Have decided to change my scene, after researching the 'Kiss' scene of Yuna & Tidus i've just kind of realized how difficult it will be especially with all the lighting etc.

The Kiss scene also focuses mainly on the characters, and most of the emotion is built between the characters, so i've decided to stick with 'Final Fantasy' and pick another scene.. this is a youtube clip entering the scene that I want to re create. The place is called 'Gran Pulse' and is open grasslands- you see a really nice establishing shot of this at about: 1.37


This is another video of Gran Pulse, showing some battle scenes you can see quite a lot of the scenery, especially at about:0.49. At 1.04 there are some nice extreme long shots which show how massive the plains are. At 2.43 there are also some nice scenery shots as well.

Breaking Down Movie Scene

Shot Types:
The establishing scene is an environment shot - showing the audience where they are and what it is. It starts off with a zoom into the characters, then an 'over the shoulder' shot slowly zooming into the first character.

Shots vary throughout the scene, mainly character shots for all the dialogue but a list of scenery shots are made (lots of long shots, panning and wide angles) Most of the shots are long and slow which fits well into the mood and theme of the scenery.

Colour Palette:
A lot of dark colours are used, but not the 'gloomy, scary' sort, it's quite a majestic sort of feel, lots of blue hues are used which are lightened with lots of glowing fire flies and the huge moon which has lighter 'cool' colours on it.

Environment:
Outside night environment - in the forest / calm water (river). Establishing scene - wide shot. Everything is very 'fantasy' looking (hence the name ... ) yet the detail is realistic. Lots of intricate detailing in everything. Lots of trees and plants around, and the characters are mainly based in the water (it's about waist deep so assuming it's a river or pond of some sort)

Emotions

Tidus and Yuna kissing.


This is just before they kiss, Tidus puts his hand on Yunas shoulder expressing that he 'feels' her pain (she is crying) and he tries to comfort her.

The emotions that are depicted in the 'kiss' scene are: (more obviously) sadness and love. This is shown through the facial expressions, tone of voice and the actions of the characters. Emotions are also set through the scenery, it's dark and quite obviously 'night time' yet it has a really romantic feel and mood - usually 'night time' can seem scary and the use of darker colours reinforce that, but in this case the dark colours are generally a shade of blue and the glowing fireflies and moon also contribute to the 'romantic' sort of mood. I think that even without the characters / dialogue in this scene it would be very obvious that it's a beautiful serene place with a romantic feel too it.

I've chosen to go with 'Final Fantasy X' with the Yuna & Tidus kiss scene. THe scene starts off establishing the surroundings and I just find it so amazing how detailed and gorgeous it looks. Definitely very romantic!

Scenery Research

I've chosen to look through the game: 'Final Fantasy' and all the beautiful scenery throughout the games. These aren't all from one game, but from a series. I love the series and love how detailed and beautiful all the scenery is so I thought it would be a good choice to do considering I already know the game as well.
